An integrated data collection system for line transect surveys

نویسندگان

چکیده

A computer based system for the collection of line transect survey data is described. The primary goals were to measure (rather than estimate) distances and angles wherever possible, provide accurate time-stamps surfacing events as an aid duplicate identification facilitate by using computers automate possible. Distance angle measurements made established photogrammetric techniques. Collection from video was automated included a buffering so that several seconds prior each observer sighting could be captured. An additional goal eliminate need post-cruise entry validation through use on-board software. successfully used during 2005 SCANS-II 2007 CODA surveys.

Line transect methods for plant surveys.

Interest in surveys for monitoring plant abundance is increasing, due in part to the need to quantify the rate of loss of biodiversity. Line transect sampling offers an efficient way to monitor many species. However, the method does not work well in some circumstances, for example on small survey plots, when the plant species has a strongly aggregated distribution, or when plants that are on th...

Parametric models for line transect surveys

With data from line transeot surveys, the pattern of distances at which animals are detected provides the information for estimating the area which the observer effectively surveys. This paper suggests a parametric structure for the problem wherein this area is characterized by an effective half-width parameter which appears as a scale parameter in the distributions of detection distances. Seve...

Simulated likelihood methods for complex double-platform line transect surveys.

The conventional line transect approach of estimating effective search width from the perpendicular distance distribution is inappropriate in certain types of surveys, e.g., when an unknown fraction of the animals on the track line is detected, the animals can be observed only at discrete points in time, there are errors in positional measurements, and covariate heterogeneity exists in detectab...

Methods for investigating measurement error in cetacean line-transect surveys

Line-transect estimates of abundance generally assume that distances and angles to animals are measured without error. Biased distance measurements will lead to corresponding bias in abundance estimates. Efforts to address this have been made, but measuring distance to cetaceans at sea remains problematic. Four distanceestimation experiments were conducted to explore relationships between estim...

An Integrated Approach for Collection Center Selection in Reverse Logistics

In this paper, a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM)-method and mixed integer linear programming (MILP) approach in order to evaluation of the returned products' collectors along with their ordered quantities, is utilized. Firstly, the most important criteria of collection center in the car industry are identified. Then, in order to evaluate these proposed criteria, a hybrid Fuzzy Deci...
